TODAY, the Senate will vote on a “must pass” bill to make prescription drugs safer, but drug company lobbyists are out in full force, working hard to weaken key drug safety provisions.

Here are some points you might want to make in your call:

• I’m calling to ask the Senator to support S. 1082 when it comes to the floor for a vote, and to oppose any amendments that will weaken drug safety reforms.
  
  
• Please vote against amendments that would make it much harder to trigger a quick safety action when there are signs of danger, or that would stop the FDA from moderating the advertising of a new drug which has safety problems.
  
  
• There is nothing in this legislation that would slow down the approval of important, life-saving drugs. Rather, it gives the FDA effective authority to ensure safety once drugs come to market and are used by millions of Americans.
